1. What is wedding insurance?

Wedding Insurance will cover you for costs incurred following an event related to your wedding as listed in the policy wording.

2. Why is Our Wedding™ now selling wedding insurance?

At Our WeddingT, we're always looking for new ways to bring you savings on products and suppliers for your wedding. Now we've pooled our expertise with Ansvar Insurance, one of Australia's largest insurers' of Churches, to bring you Our WeddingT Insurance.

3. Who can apply for Our Wedding™ Insurance?

Any couple getting married. Our WeddingT Insurance can be purchased by any member of the bridal party.

4. How do I purchase Our Wedding™ Insurance?

5. When does Our Wedding™ Insurance cover start?

From the day you take out the policy, but not more than twelve months from the wedding date. Cover for personal accident only applies for the period two weeks before the wedding. The policy expires at the end of the wedding day although cover in some areas is provided up to 90 days after the wedding.

6. How far in advance should I purchase Our Wedding™ Insurance for my wedding to be covered?

Our Wedding™ Insurance is available for purchase not less than seven days and not more than twelve months prior to the wedding.

7. Does Our Wedding™ Insurance have a policy excess?

Call 1800 729 513 or use the downloadable claim form to lodge your claim.

8. My wedding ceremony and reception are on different dates. Will Our Wedding™ Insurance cover me for both events?

Yes, providing the two dates are within two weeks of each other.

9. Does Our Wedding™ Insurance cover weddings outside Australia?

No, with the exception of weddings in New Zealand which will be covered.

10. What level of cover do I need?

There are 3 levels available. You should read the policy wording to determine the level of cover you require.

11. Who do I call if I have to make a claim?

Yes. You must contribute $75 towards the cost of each claim.

12. What is public liability cover?

Public liability insurance will cover you for the cost of compensation against your legal liability for injuries or damage to other people or property. Please read the policy wording for policy limitations and exclusions.

13. How can the premiums be paid?

You must pay for the policy when you take out the cover. Credit card or bpay is accepted over the phone.

14. Are there any policy exclusions and conditions?

Yes, please read the policy wording carefully so you are fully aware of the policy limitations and exclusions.

15. What happens if the wedding is cancelled?

You are covered if your wedding is cancelled or cut short for a reason beyond your control. If this happens, you may have to pay for suppliers or goods that you've booked but cannot use. Under this cover, you would be able to claim for these costs. The policy wording lists the specific events that are insured against cancellation of the wedding.

17. The cost of my wedding has increased. Will I still be covered? Can I increase my package?

You are covered up to the limits detailed in the policy wording. You may increase the level of cover up to 7 days before the wedding, you will need to pay the additional premium.

18. How long does it normally take to resolve a claim?

Each claim is assessed individually. The objective is to settle all claims as quickly as possible.

19. Will I be covered for deposits already paid prior to purchasing Our Wedding™ Insurance?

Yes, providing any event causing the cancellation of the wedding occurs after the policy has been purchased. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

20. Can I pay my premium by instalments?

No, the full premium must be paid at the commencement of the policy.

21. What if I don't like my policy?

You can cancel the policy at any time up to 30 days before the wedding. There may be a cancellation fee and a pro-rata portion of the premium kept.

22. What happens in the event either the Bride or the Groom decides to change their minds?

Cancellation costs incurred by either party deciding not to go ahead with the wedding will not be paid. Professional counselling is paid if recommended by a general medical practitioner. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

23. Is weather covered?

If a weather related event causes the curtailment or cancellation of your wedding, then cover is provided subject to limitations and exclusions.

24. I have an existing medical condition. Can this be covered?

Existing medical conditions must be disclosed at the time you apply for the policy. Based on the information you provide, it will be decided whether cover will be offered and on what terms.

25. We are a same sex couple and plan to have a civil ceremony. Can we apply also?

Yes, this policy can be purchased for civil partnership ceremonies.

26. Can non-Australian nationals be covered?

Yes, providing the wedding is taking place in Australia or New Zealand.

27. Would the policy be able to provide cover for other occasions, such as anniversary parties?

No.

28. Will I be covered against redundancy?

Yes - If the member of the bridal party is made redundant and is contributing to more than 50% of the cost of the wedding.

29. Am I covered if the Bride's wedding dress or the Groom's suit is damaged before the wedding?

Yes. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

30. My partner is in the armed forces. What would happen if their leave was cancelled?

The policy covers service in the armed forces for the bride and groom, but not other members of the bridal party.

31. What happens if the bride/groom gets sick just before the wedding/ceremony?

Cover is provided if the illness is to a member of the bridal party and this causes the cancellation or curtailment of the wedding. Cover against Personal Accident is provided. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

32. What happens if one of the wedding/ceremony party has an ongoing illness?

Pre-existing conditions must be disclosed before the policy is taken out. There are other limits to illness which are stated in the policy wording.

33. What happens if one of my guests is injured at the reception and I am held responsible?

The policy provides public liability cover. Please refer to section C - public and products liability of the policy wording.

34. What happens if the cake is dropped?

If the cause is accidental cover will be provided. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

35. What happens if our suppliers go out of business before we collect the attire?

Cover will be provided subject to limitations and exclusions.

36. What happens if one of our Mum's wedding outfits was ruined?

You will be covered providing the circumstance causing the loss is covered by the policy. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

37. We're hiring a marquee. Are we covered?

Yes. Please refer to the policy wording for limits and exclusions.

38. The Reception location is requesting a Certificate of Insurance, how do we get this?

Yes, a Certificate of Insurance will be provided when you take out the policy.

39. What happens if the bride or another person crucial to the wedding gets sick and can't attend the wedding?

Sickness is not covered unless it is a member of the bridal party and this causes the cancellation or curtailment of the wedding.

40. Is any Bridal Party clothing covered if it's damaged, lost or stolen?

Yes, as per the limits and exclusions in the policy wording.

41. Is cover provided for the eventuality that one of my wedding suppliers goes into bankruptcy/liquidation?

Yes.

42. If we lose our wedding rings, are they covered?

Yes, but there are limits. Please refer to section B2 of the policy wording.

43. Does Our Wedding™ Insurance cover all wedding presents, including cheques, gift certificates, etc.?

Yes, but there are limits. Please refer to section B2 of the policy wording.

44. What happens if our photographer does not show up and a replacement is not available?

The cost to have the photos retaken on another date will be paid.

45. Are we covered if the photography is damaged or does not come out?

The cost to have the photos retaken on another date will be paid.

46. What happens if the florist doesn't arrive with the flowers?

Additional costs incurred in arranging alternative flowers will be paid.

47. What happens if the rented wedding cars do not arrive on the morning of the wedding?

Additional costs incurred in arranging alternative transport will be paid.
